Writing a book can help you raise funds for your business or NGO
I say this confidently because I have tried it and it works. And guess what? You will be seen as a special person and people would like to be associated with you.
My name is Chibuzor Azubuike, in 2011 I was posted to the Northern Nigeria, Bauchi State, for my NYSC (National Youths Service Corps) programme in 2011.
Although at first, I felt terrified, a lot of unrest were happening in the particular state where I had been posted to serve. The post-election violence was ongoing, and gradually Boko Haram, the terrorist group began fierce operations in the North.
While in Bauchi, I survived an explosion in the lodge where I lived. When others were terrified and immediately asked to be transferred for fear of their lives, I stayed behind to embark on a mission that will change the lives of an entire community for good. I sank the first borehole water pump for the community, which benefitted over 6000 people, the community named the place was named after me, I also earned a Chieftaincy title because of the impact I had made in that community.
I had extra funding so I thought to use it for other projects. I renovated a skill acquisition centre and equipped it. Some people thought I was foolish because I could have used that money to establish myself after my service year, but other people thought the entire experience was too beautiful not to be told. That was how I wrote my first book, The Girl Who Found Water. This wonderful book has sold several thousands of copies. The book is currently in the library of the University of Birmingham, the University of Oxford, and other prominent universities.
So far, several scholars from the west have engaged in deep analysis of the book. I also made my first million with the book and I went Global. The proceeds gotten from the sales of my book I used it to provide small grants to young corp members who are embarking on water projects for community development. My organization, Haske Water Aid and Empowerment Foundation, has provided potable water for over 55,000 people and I have won several international awards.
